Technology has a direct connection to mathematics and can have an enormous impact on the mathematics classroom. The MATRIX grant has given the classroom teacher the opportunity to work on and work through technology rich projects. These projects have given the students the chance to use the mathematics learned in the traditional fashion and blend it with updated technology. They are stretching their imaginations and their skills by exploration and discovery. It is very enlightening to see the students wonder about things they have found and reinforce what they already know by teaching another. I am constantly amazed by what the students can do with technology as well as what they want to do with technology. It is an ongoing learning environment for both the student and the teacher. |
